1Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using CanadaAsks ("the Service"), operated at canadaasks.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use this Service. By using CanadaAsks, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3Description of Service

CanadaAsks is an AI-powered assistant that provides information about Canadian government services, including but not limited to immigration, taxation, benefits, health, housing, education, legal matters, and employment. The Service offers welcome credits for new accounts and paid subscription plans.

4AI Disclaimer and Assumption of Risk — Important

The information provided by CanadaAsks is generated by artificial intelligence and is for general informational purposes only. It does NOT constitute legal, financial, tax, immigration, medical, or professional advice of any kind.

Use of AI output is at your sole risk. You accept and agree that:

  • AI-generated responses may contain errors, outdated information, hallucinated facts, incorrect dollar amounts, broken links, or other inaccuracies.
  • You will not rely on AI output as a sole source of truth or factual information.
  • You will not use AI output as a substitute for professional advice. Always consult a qualified lawyer, accountant, immigration consultant, financial advisor, or other licensed professional before making decisions that could affect your legal, financial, immigration, tax, or personal status.
  • CanadaAsks is not responsible for any loss, harm, penalty, denied application, missed deadline, incorrect filing, financial loss, or any other damage resulting from your use of or reliance on information provided by the Service.
  • Dollar amounts, tax thresholds, benefit amounts, eligibility criteria, and processing times referenced in AI responses may be outdated or incorrect. These figures change frequently. Always verify current amounts on official government websites before taking action.

CanadaAsks is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Government of Canada or any provincial, territorial, or municipal government.

5Subscription Plans and Payment

CanadaAsks offers the following subscription tiers:

  • Free — Limited questions per month at no cost.
  • Pro — Increased question limits and features for a monthly or yearly fee.
  • Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) — Purchase credits to use as needed.

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly) and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law.

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

6User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account using email/password or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate and complete.

7User Responsibilities

When using the Service, you agree NOT to:

  • Submit personal information (such as SIN, passport numbers, or banking details) in chat conversations.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without written permission.
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service without authorization.
  • Submit profane, abusive, hateful, harassing, or threatening content through any part of the Service, including chat and contact forms.
  • Submit spam, unsolicited advertisements, or content unrelated to Canadian government services.

Important: You are solely responsible for the information you provide in conversations. Do not share sensitive personal data. CanadaAsks is not responsible for any personal information you voluntarily disclose through the chat interface.

8Abuse Prevention and Enforcement

To protect the quality and safety of our Service, CanadaAsks employs automated abuse detection systems. These systems may:

  • Detect and block messages containing profanity, hate speech, spam, or content unrelated to Canadian government services.
  • Rate-limit contact form submissions to prevent abuse (maximum 3 submissions per hour per device).
  • Temporarily block devices that submit abusive content for up to 24 hours.
  • Record violations as evidence, including the content of abusive messages, the device fingerprint, and the associated user account (if signed in).
  • Warn signed-in users about policy violations. Repeated violations may result in permanent account suspension.

9Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, and software — are the property of CanadaAsks and are protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

10Third-Party AI Services

CanadaAsks uses third-party AI services to generate responses. Your conversation questions may be processed by these AI providers to deliver answers. We do not share your personal account information with these providers. The AI processes the content of your questions only, not your identity.

11Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CanadaAsks and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Loss of data or corruption of data
  • Denied government applications or immigration proceedings
  • Incorrect tax filings, missed deadlines, or penalties
  • Financial losses from reliance on AI-generated information
  • Personal injury or emotional distress
  • Any other damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service

In no event shall CanadaAsks's total aggregate liability exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to CanadaAsks in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if CanadaAsks has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. CanadaAsks makes no warranties, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, with respect to the Service, and hereby disclaims all warranties including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, and non-infringement
  • Any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • Any warranty that the information provided will be accurate, complete, current, or reliable
  • Any warranty that AI-generated content is free of errors, hallucinations, or outdated information

No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from CanadaAsks shall create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.

13Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CanadaAsks and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

14Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.

15Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

16Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.

17Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
